Sony Alpha A200 Review at DPExpert

DPExpert has reviewed the Sony Alpha A200 an entry level digital SLR camera featuring a 10.2 megapixel (CCD) APS image sensor, 2.7 inch LCD Clear Photo LCDTM screen (230,000 pixels), and ISO range of 100 to 3200, built in super steady shot and a burst mode of 3 frames per second to the full capacity of the card that it is using when shooting in JPEG (and for a burst of 6 frames in RAW).

They write: “The camera is compatible with Minolta auto-focus lenses which means there is some second-hand glass available. We tried an old Minolta lens with mixed results – sharpness was better but contrast was worse. Unlike Canon, who offer the 400D with a choice of lenses of different qualities and prices, Sony’s approach is to sell the a200 with the lenses in the box. We suspect a good camera compromised by cheap lenses.”

Sony Alpha A350 Review at PhotoReview

Photo Review has reviewed the Sony Alpha A350 a 14.2 megapixel (CCD) DSLR with a 2.7 inch tilting LCD and live view.

They write: "Low-light performance was very good, with accurate colours in long exposures (up to 30 seconds) and no apparent noise in exposures up to ISO 800. Colour noise became evident at ISO 3200 but at a relatively low level, although some shadow detail was lost with this setting…. Sony’s A350 DSLR has something to offer to both digicam upgraders who are looking to buy a more sophisticated camera and photo enthusiasts who want a high-resolution camera with all the latest shooting controls. It’s a definite step up from the A200 model in both features and performance and represents very good value for money. However, for enthusiasts who want to get the best from this camera, we’d recommend buying the body alone and pairing it with a more sophisticated lens.”

Sony Alpha A350 Review at CNET

CNET has reviewed the Sony Alpha A350 a 14.2 megapixel (CCD) DSLR with a 2.7 inch tilting LCD and live view.

They write: with its 14-megapixel CCD, flip-up LCD, sensor-shift image stabilizer, and built-in wireless flash controller, the feature-packed Sony Alpha DSLR-A350 seems like a cornucopia of photographic goodness for the budget shopper. And you wouldn’t be far off the mark: there’s a lot to like in the A350… however, unless you’re prepared to spend a disproportionate amount of money on a really good lens, the resolution bump offered by the Sony Alpha DSLR-A350 isn’t worth the price.”

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H10 Review at DP Review

DP Review has reviewed the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H10 an 8 megapixel camera with 3.0 inch LCD display and a massive 10x stabilized optical zoom lens (38 – 380 mm equivalent). The Cybershot H10 also features 31 megabytes of internal memory, ISO sensitivity of ISO 100-3200, and HDTV video output.

They write: “Like its predecessor the H10 offers a massive zoom range in a very compact package: if you are looking for a camera that you can carry all the time but don’t want to dispense with a very long zoom, you should seriously consider it as one of your options… Image quality is virtually identical to the predecessor’s. It is good in reasonable light, the output is ready to print, sharp and with appealing colors. At higher ISO ranges and in low light this picture changes but the results are no worse than on the competition’s comparable models – certainly not at standard print sizes… the H10 is a compact long-zoom point and shoot camera that reliably takes pictures in Auto mode and offers good value for money. There are a few negatives you should have in mind but image quality is decent. Most of all, like its predecessor it is a fun-to-use camera that you can carry wherever you go.”

Sony Alpha A350 Review at Camera Labs

Camera Labs have reviewed the Sony Alpha A350 a 14.2 megapixel (CCD) DSLR with a 2.7 inch tilting LCD and live view.

They write: "The Sony Alpha A350 is a feature-packed DSLR with a compelling price tag. With high resolution, built-in stabilisation, Live View and a flip-out screen, it ticks the boxes of most new DSLR buyers. Sony’s fuss-free Live View is also arguably the best implementation yet for general consumers. It’s quick, quiet and offers uncompromised auto-focusing performance. Sure the coverage and accuracy isn’t the same as systems which use the main sensor, but this will only bother the more technical photographers out there…. Despite a few issues which will annoy technical photographers, the Alpha A350 is an excellent DSLR with great features and arguably one of the best Live View implementations to date. Given all it offers for the asking price we can easily award it our Highly Recommended rating.”

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W130 Review

Sony Cybershot dsc w130Digital Camera Resource have reviewed the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W130 a compact point and shoot 8.1 megapixel camera featuring a 4x optical zoom lens, 2.5 inch LCD, optical image stabilization, face and smile detection.

They write: “If you want a compact camera with a nice zoom range, image stabilization, very good photo quality and performance, and fun point-and-shoot features, then the DSC-W130 will do it, without breaking the bank. For those who shoot in unusual lighting, like taking long exposures, or take a lot of flash shots, then you may want to consider something else. If you’re in the first group, then I can definitely recommend checking out the Cyber-shot DSC-W130”.

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T300 Reviewed at DP Review

Sony DSC T-300DP Review have reviewed the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T300, a 10.1 megapixel, ultra compact point and shoot camera with 3.5 inch touch screen LCD and 5x optical zoom lens.

They write: “the T300 has a lot of features that will benefit its target audience. Image stabilization and dynamic range optimization will help produce better photographs for the user that is thinking more about capturing the moment rather than assessing the implications of the scene’s lighting. There are also some useful post-processing effects (In-camera unsharp masking), as well as the flagrantly gimmicky ones (Apply ‘Happy faces’). Our initial impressions of the T300 were not positive – with the function guide adding delays (but no useful information), and a ‘plink’ sound effect that screamed ‘lifestyle accessory,’ rather than ‘camera,’ every time it was touched (which does nothing to solidify the ‘cameraness differentiation’). However, with these two turned off, the camera is transformed into a not-unpleasant, carry-everywhere snap shooter”. Overall the Cybershot DSC-T300 receives an “above average” rating.
